Launching a Sustainable Swimwear Startup
Summersalt is a direct-to-consumer company, founded by two women, that launched in 2017. Their signature swimsuits are made from recycled materials on par with designer quality at an affordable $95 price point. www.gosummersalt.com
My Role: As the Creative Director, I spearheaded the brand, identity, and digital work. I collaborated closely with the founders to develop and craft a cohesive brand and design system, and was responsible for all consumer-facing touch points, including the end-to-end work for their e-commerce website. I also oversaw the creative for their social media designs, packaging, and digital and print marketing collaterals.
Data-Backed Fit: Their swimwear features an impeccable data-backed fit, based on millions of measurements from over 10,000 women. Their mission is to make wardrobe essentials comfortable enough for the journey, and stylish enough for the destination. At launch, consumers could build their own eco-friendly swim box and get them delivered straight to their door, and try them on in the comfort of their own homes.
Product Expansion: In a few short years, they have expanded to additional categories including loungewear, knitwear, sleepwear and activewear. Summersalt has built a loyal following of customers, influencers and celebrities, and have garnered praise from leading fashion media including ELLE, Vogue and People. They are currently a Series B startup with $26.7M in funding.
